***Description***
This artifact is a unit I wrote for Early Field Experience. The unit was based around my Co-
Op teacher’s current unit in class. The unit is based around the mathematical concepts of
factors and multiples. It includes preparation and planning, making family involvement
nights, and creative classroom experiences. The unit consists of four lessons with a
assessment at the end. The 1st lesson is on the concept of factors, the 2nd prime and
composite numbers, the 3rd multiples, and the 4th a review of the content throughout the week. The unit is built to be a week in a 4th grade math classroom.
***Rationale***
This artifact highlights my ability to adapt to different students learning styles and abilities. It features a wide range of instructional methods from guided instruction, peer groups, and creative worksheets. It promotes extensive instructional strategies for the teacher to use so they can align with student interests and create teachable moments for students to learn from. I worked with my co-op teacher to build this lesson so I could create lessons that promote environments where students can learn individually and collaboratively. Using Common Ground standards, this artifacts encourages positive interaction among students and with the teacher and active engagement for learning and building self-motivation.
