***Exceptional I Field Reflection*** ***3e. Demonstrating flexibility & responsiveness*** Teacher uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage in-depth learning, skill building, etc. ***InTASC Standard #9: Professional Learning and Ethical Practice*** The teacher engages in ongoing professional learning and uses evidence to continually evaluate his/her practice, particularly the effects of his/her choices and actions on others (learners, families, other professionals, and the community), and adapts practice to meet the needs of each learner ***Description*** During my observation, I studied a variety of methods for teaching exceptional students. The first way was a Family Feud like game. Each student would take turns giving an answer to an open ended question. Their answer would then appear on the board. This promoted critical thinking and rewarding that thinking by gamifying the learning process. Another way was learning through physical activity. During their gym class they talked about muscles and other parts of the body as they did stretches.    ***Rationale*** I watched as the teacher used methods that would gauge student understanding through a method that was fun and engaging. The games they played encouraged them to think outside the box and find answers on their own that would give them both knowledge and rewards. The teacher used many different methods that encourage the students to learn and build skills like complex thinking and a deeper understanding of motor skills.  By doing this, the teacher promoted high standards for the students to be able to work through problems and learn in an environment that they could flourish in. ![[Excep1Reflection.pdf]]
