***Description***
The “Literary Elements Assessment” is a paper I wrote in my 2nd year at Pitt Greensburg. It was part of my literary elements unit. The assessment was designed as a summative assessment to measure how well students understood the three elements presented throughout the week. The assessment consists of three types of questions: multiple choice, matching, and a short essay question. The multiple choice questions are intended to assess their overall comprehension of the topics we learned. The matching is to assess students on how well they are able to recognize characters and their traits. The short essay is intended to assess students on their deeper analysis and thinking skills.
***Rationale***
This artifact incorporates various questioning techniques designed to test if students were engaged and understood the material presented throughout the week. The inclusion of different types of questions provides points where the student will be able to show their strengths and knowledge whether it be answering test questions or writing a short response. This artifact also can be used to guide future lessons based on student performance. If students are unable to answer questions based on one of the topics then we will reassess the next week’s lesson and reteach if necessary. If students excel then we will be able to move onto the next set of lessons.
