***Description***
This artifact is a paper written about two case studies of students with high ACE scores. ACE is an adverse childhood experience. The case studies focused on two students who have been affected by multiple forms of trauma including physical, mental, and sexual. The paper lists each ACE the student was affected by and their overall score. The paper also shows methods of how I, as a teacher, would help manage my classroom and manage behavior with that ACE score in mind to avoid retraumatization and be as supportive as possible.
***Rationale***
This artifact demonstrates my ability to establish standards of conduct with trauma-informed care in mind within my classroom. It shows that I am aware of the effect of trauma on students and how it can affect not only their daily lives but their overall learning experiences. It shows that I will use preventative measures to build relationships to avoid and minimize the impact of trauma on a student. It shows that I want to create an environment that supports individual and collaborative learning and encourage positive interaction and engagement among teachers and students while being aware of the issue of trauma within the classroom.
