## ***TBI Reflection***
***2a. Creating an Environment of Respect and Rapport***
The teacher’s interactions with students demonstrate caring and sensitivity to students’
needs, and students treat each other in a similarly appropriate manner.
***InTASC Standard #3: Learning Environment***
The teacher works with others to create environments that support individual and collaborative learning, and that encourage positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation.
***Description***
This artifact is a reflection on an in-class speaker. The speaker spoke about their experience of having a Traumatic Brain Injury, or TBI, how she lives and adapts to the condition, the support she received and the resources she’s found and that we, as teachers, can use in the future. The artifact is my reflection on their speech and how I felt when listening to them. I reflect on how the speaker spoke and acted despite having a TBI, some of the notable symptoms they still experience, and how I will use my knowledge gained from the speech in the future.
***Rationale***
This artifact demonstrates my care and compassion for students and people who have exceptionalities. It shows that I am sensitive to students’ needs within the classroom and how I expect students to treat each other with the same care, compassion, and respect. This artifact also shows my motivation to create an environment that supports both individual and collaborative learning, how I will encourage students to learn with each other no matter if they have exceptionalities or not and engage in positive motivation towards all students so they can gain a great sense of self-motivation.
