## ***Project Read Worksheet***
***1F: Designing Student Assessment***
The teacher designs assessments to match clearly defined learning expectations for all students as part of the instructional process to guide future planning.
***InTASC Standard #6: Assessment***
The teacher understands and uses multiple methods of assessment to engage learners in their own growth, to monitor learner progress, and to guide the teacher’s and learner’s decision making.
***Description***
“Project Read” is a program in which students meet with me and a partner and discuss a book they have been reading. Each week we give the students a group of chapters to read and then when we meet we discuss various topics surrounding their reading comprehension of the book we read. This is a worksheet I created that would test their comprehension of the subject of character traits. In the worksheet, the student is tasked with choosing 3 characters and connecting 3 traits to that character as well as evidence that supports these traits. This is to assess whether or not the students are able to recognize traits while reading and understand the various characters they meet throughout the story.
***Rationale***
I chose this worksheet because it clearly demonstrates how assessments connect to learning and can be used to gauge where the students are each week as we continue reading the book. In doing this, I am able to base the next week’s activities according to their current comprehension level. This artifact also demonstrates how I employ assessment methods throughout this program. Worksheets, group discussion, and group reading are all parts of this program and can all be used to gauge students' reading comprehension skills.
